As you'll recall, back in September, Hillary Clinton was forced to apologize after labeling half of Trump's supporters a "basket of deplorables" while speaking at a fundraiser. Trump voters took the insult and ran with it, which is how we ended up here, with grammatically incorrect "Deplorable N' Chief" tees. Minion-themed Trump merch isn't a new phenomenon. As Philly Magazinereported in September, "Deplorable Me" shirts -- a play off of Despicable Me-- popped up on the internet just days after Clinton's initial comment. AsMinionsscreenwriter Brian Lynch told the magazine, he doesn't quite follow the reasoning behind the shirts.
